Clos de la Roilette Fleurie 2016

Like most of you, we are riding out the current pandemic as best we can. With the family sequestered at home on a rainy day, tensions were rising…………like our beautiful homemade Country Bread in the oven. Made with white, wheat, and rye flour this fabulous bread definitely rose to the occasion.  We served this mighty loaf alongside our  Barley and Root Vegetable Stew. The last item needed to complete our stress relief was a nice little country wine. In this case, a Cru Beaujolais was the perfect fit; enter the 2016 Fleurie from Clos de la Roilette. Peace has temporarily been restored.

The Clos de la Roilette Fleurie 2016 was dark cherry red in color. The aromatics were dark red fruits along with a lovely smokiness. The palate was medium to full bodied and showed amazing concentration of deep dark cherry. The tannins at this point are thoroughly integrated. A delicious wine, served with a beautiful meal, and a definite Wines Under the Radar pick.
