Can Sumoi Xarel-lo 2017

Getting low on fresh veggies this weekend but still had fresh broccoli on hand. Decided to make a simple dinner of pasta and Broccoli GOA.  This humble dish is a small homage to my brothers restaurant, Jackson Fillmore in San Francisco. Back in the day (the restaurant has been there over 30+ years), I always loved their pasta plates. Home cooking at its best then and now! Can’t wait for restaurants to re-open from this pandemic. A Spanish Xarel-lo from  the Penedes region was the wine of choice this evening.

The Can Sumoi Xarel-lo 2017 was light yellow in color with a very faint haze in the glass. Intense aromatics of herbs, apple, and a touch of citrus. The palate was medium-bodied and smooth. Fresh flavors of apple, lemon, and minerality were enhanced by a slight saltiness. Nice framework of acidity and a long finish made this a subtle Wines Under the Radar. Certified Organic!!
