The 2016 vintage in Bordeaux was stellar. Across the board one can find high quality throughout all the Bordeaux appellations. The trick is to find value within the hundreds of wines on the market. Of the dozen or so I have tasted to date, it has been hard pressed to find a true gem…………until now. The Ch. Cambon La Pelouse 2016 Haut-Medoc at approximately $20 is a bottle fits the bill for Wines Under the Radar!
Ch. Cambon La Pelouse 2016 is a blend of 49% Merlot, 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 4% Petit Verdot. The wine is very dark cherry/garnet in color and opaque. Lovely aromatics that are pretty darn cool for a $20 Bordeaux. Aromas of cassis, earth tones, cedar and lead-pencil are very expressive. The palate is medium-bodied, dense, and lush all at the same time. The finish is long and medium firm with tannins that are not overly tough. This wine is fine to drink now but should improve and drink well over the next 5-7 years. This Wines Under the Radar is a Great Value!!
