Another cold winter night, vegetarian stew on the menu, and a medium bodied red is what I was looking for. I wasn’t sure if the Petit Thouars would fit the bill but I figured I couldn’t go wrong with some Loire Valley Cabernet Franc. Maybe, it could have been more full-bodied for the stew but this was drinking just right and it hit the Wines Under the Radar sweet spot at $17 a bottle.
The Ch. Du Petit Thouars ‘Les Georges’ Chinon 2018 was beautiful garnet in color and had aromas of black-cherry and currants, medium intensity on the palate with fresh red fruit notes along with some spicy flavors. Very pleasant finish with supple tannins. A wine made for current consumption and down-right easy to drink.
