This past weekend while preparing a simple little dinner of salmon croquettes, mashed potatoes, and garden salad, I was trying to decide on what wine I should select that would fit the bill. I remembered a Bordeaux Blanc I had stashed away in the cellar a few weeks back and decided to give it a whirl. Simple family meal with a simple white wine. Well, sometimes a Wine Under the Radar can show up when you least expect it and the Chateaux Peybonhomme-Les-Tours 2017 was an unexpected surprise.
The Ch. Peybonhomme-Les-Tours Blanc, – Côtes de Blaye, Bordeaux 2017 is light to medium yellow in color. The aromatics exhibit light citrus tones and an intriguing starchy sweetness of almond cake (the wine is bone dry). On the palate the wine is very nuanced with notes of straw, white flowers, and a hint of almond. These flavors all work in harmony in a medium bodied framework. The medium length finish shows just a slight acid tang to complete the wine. A beautiful Bordeaux Blanc that hovers around $20 and certainly a nice little Wine Under the Radar. The wine is Certified Organic.
