Wines Under the Radar is still on a 2018 Rosé kick and will be for the foreseeable future given the current weather conditions; hot with a chance of Rosé . This weeks’ wine is one in which I have total bias. As a former wine importer, I had the opportunity of representing Chateau Viranel for almost 2 decades. I’ve visited the estate in Saint Chinian, France and enjoyed the company of current proprietors, brothers Nico and Arnaud Bergasse, on many occasions. Their Domaine de Viranel Trilogie, Pays D’Oc Rosé 2018 is a wine I enjoy every vintage!
The Domaine de Viranel Trilogie, Pays D’Oc Rosé 2018 is derived from equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Cinsault (trilogie) and has a pale onion skin color. The aromas show raspberry, red-fruit, and a light orange note along with a gentle floral accent. On the palate the wine is bright, fresh and forward with medium bodied flavors that mirror the aromatics. This Rosé has a lovely and persistent finish, beautiful and at $12 – $13 an unbelievable value for another Wines Under the Radar.
