A simple dinner planned for this evening brought me down to the cellar to rummage through some Wine Under the Radar candidates. A long forgotten Portuguese white needed it’s chance. Back in the kitchen I realized it was a 2015 and hoped for the best.
The 2015 Filipa Pato Bical & Arinto Vinho Branco 2015 did not disappoint. The wine is medium to light yellow and had a distinct aroma of deep pear notes along with some mango. The flavors are medium bodied on entry but broaden through the mid palate and finish. A slight note of salinity adds to the mix. A medium to long finish that really impressed, especially at the price.
Although I am writing about the 2015 vintage, I would not hesitate to pick up the current 2018 vintage. At $15, a definite Wine Under the Radar! Go for it.
