Nothing like a good, refreshing, Sauvignon Blanc on a warm summer night. Yet, while there are just so many choices from around the globe today, I always find myself returning to the Loire Valley, France, for my Sauvignon selection. The Loire hosts a few Sauvignon Blanc regions, including the likes of Sancerre, Pouilly-Fumé, and…..Touraine. The Les Chardons Sauvignon Blanc 2018 from owner / winemaker Thierry Chardon is a perfect Wines Under the Radar and hits the right notes for quality and price.
The Les Chardons Sauvignon Blanc 2018 is clear medium yellow in color. The aromatics are full and big. Oh yeah, orange, lemongrass, light mint, straw, honeysuckle, and tropical fruits pretty much explode from the glass. All these aromatic components nestle into place on the palate along with some slight salty minerality. This medium bodied wine is Certified Organic / Biodynamic to boot. For a price of $15 -$18, this is a fantastic value and a true Wines Under the Radar. Stay cool!
