Hi ho, hi ho, it’s off to Italy we go, specifically to the Piedmonte home to Barolo and Barbaresco but today to the wonderful wines of Barbera d’Alba. Wines from this DOC are plentiful but quality and price can vary greatly. the Paitin Barbera D’Alba ‘Serra’ 2016 is a perfect example. Spending around $20 for this impressive wine is well worth it.
The Paitin Barbera D’Alba ‘Serra’ 2016 is medium to deep ruby red. Smoking high toned aromas of crushed dark cherry fruit give a beautiful example of this lovely grape varietal. This delicious wine tastes fresh and lively with notes of dark cherry and raspberry along with a touch of spice for added complexity. The finish is persistent and juicy (thick?) and begs you to go back for another taste. Want to know what a classic Barbera D’Alba tastes like? Then look no further.
