Tuscan Tuesday turned out to be utterly delightful. A lovely dinner of Roasted Spaghetti Squash with sautéed Mushrooms, Garlic & fresh Sage was just so darn delicious. Sometimes a wonderful vegetarian dish can be so good……….especially with freshly grown mushrooms from @smilingearthmushrooms . The next decision was to select the wine. My first plan was to go with a Rhone Valley red but decided to go against my Francophile tendencies and went with the Tenuta La Fuga Brunello di Montalcino 2013.
The wine was absolutely delicious and while it will hold up and improve over the next 10 years, it was drinking great today (why wait). Garnet in color with a slightly faded edge. Explosive aromatics of dried cherries, licorice, and leather notes. Pure Sangiovese that is at the same time full bodied with great concentration yet velvety. The.re were integrated grainy tannins on the very long finish. Wines Under the Radar is in a happy place tonight
