Vina Cobos ‘Felino’ Malbec 2019, Mendoza, Argentina

Another snowfall in the books and after shoveling out of storm number 3. I’m ready to make a nice, winter worthy dinner. Sweet Potato, Squash, and Black Bean Enchiladas* are on the menu. Hey don’t knock it until you’ve tried it. Now, the decision becomes wine or beer. Ok, alright, both will be put to the test, I’m not driving anywhere.

The Vina Cocos ‘Felino’ Malbec 2019 is straight up deep, opaque, purple in color. The aromas are dark fruits and earth. Very inviting. On the palate the wine has deep flavors of dark roasted cherries, a bit of smokiness, and is medium bodied. Easy silky tannins make it ready to enjoy now Wines Under the Radar pick.

Sreamin’ Hill Brewery Screamin’ Magnolia IPA, Cream Ridge, NJ – Love these generic cans with hand written content and 32oz is a perfect share can. Beautiful amber color with a slight haze. Aromatics of floral hops. A good bitter taste and flavors of some slight citrus , resin, and herbs. Nice finish. At 5.8% ABV, this comes off fresh and balanced.
