“Strawberry Fields Forever / Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” / I love Rosé Whenever.
I am so glad the 2018 Rosé are hitting the market and showing so well. Rosé from top producers are a good bet this summer, fall, and ……..all year long. While the vast majority of folks lean toward the most notable region for Rosé, namely Aix-en-Provence, I encourage everyone to get outside their comfort zone. Try some Rosé from different regions in France, Italy, Spain, California, and dare I say Germany! That’s right Germany. Today’s wine Von Winning Pinot Noir 2018 is a Rosé from the Pfalz region in western Germany, specifically from the village of Deidesheim and is made for 100% Pinot Noir (Spätburgunder).
The Von Winning Pinot Noir Rosé, Pfalz 2018 color is a bright light/medium salmon color. The aromas of just ripe strawberries and a hint of apple (golden delicious) are asking you to dive in. On the palate, this medium bodied wine continues the play of “Strawberry Fields Forever” with the addition of “tangerine trees and marmalade skies” some salinity and deliciousness. The finish is of medium length with good acidity and balance. $17 – $20 makes this another Wines Under the Radar. Enjoy
